A Rare Case of Magnesium Alkyl Mediated CO-to-Alkoxide Conversion
While the addition of Mg alkyls to CO2 is generally fast and selective, reactions with CO are troubled by the instability of the acyl anion. Herein we report an odd case of a highly selective three-fold addition to CO. Switching polarities converts a Mg alkyl into a Mg alkoxide complex.
